Alex, Forestry
“My dad came to Michigan State University, so I had always liked the thought of coming to MSU. It’s just a gorgeous campus, there’s so many beautiful trees and we have the Red Cedar River running throughout campus. It’s just an absolutely beautiful place to be.”

Areli, Civil Engineering
“I love Michigan State — I don’t regret my choice. I love the culture we have here and there are always people here to help you, from the staff to people in organizations. I feel like MSU is really good at creating a welcoming atmosphere and making students feel comfortable.”

Dayana, Mechanical Engineering
“Throughout each semester, MSU always has events for students to participate in. Whether you go to an event or go get food at the cafeteria with friends, it’s really easy for you to take a study break if you’re feeling stressed. There are also events specifically for relieving stress where you can make stress balls and do other similar activities to take your mind off studying, which I think is important. Mental health is promoted very well here at MSU, and they do a good job of encouraging students to not over-stress themselves.”

Liz, Political Science, Media and Information
“I chose Michigan State because I like the wide range of opportunities the university offers. Originally, I was looking at smaller schools since I was coming from such a small town, but when I got to MSU I realized how much I could actually do at a school like this. MSU gave me independence. It gave me a chance to branch out and become a little more extroverted when I’m naturally introverted. The university helped me grow into my own individual person and get ready for adulthood through internships and study abroad experiences.”

Muning, Business
“My family are huge Spartan fans, so I’ve been coming to Michigan State University to watch football games since I was in high school. MSU provides so many ways for us to get involved outside the classroom. Even though I’m a business major, I have a passion for science, so I joined the Zoology Student Association where I became the treasurer.”

William, Neuroscience
“The transition into Michigan State University has been a lot of fun. Since I came in as a freshman, I’ve had the most rewarding experiences and have been very fortunate to have incredible research mentors at MSU. I worked for Dr. Jennifer Fenton in the nutrition department and she is just phenomenal. She believes in her students and really puts in the time to mentor them. I’ve been fortunate enough to be in on a couple publications with her as an undergrad and that’s something that really set my MSU experience apart.”
